Trauma Informed Approach to Exercise Provision CPD Training

Last week, I had the incredible opportunity to attend a CPD training with theMovement Charity, an organisation dedicated to restoring every woman’s right to exercise. Their mission is to partner with various charities to provide trauma-informed exercise opportunities for women who have faced multiple disadvantages.

The course, "A Trauma Informed Approach to Exercise Provision," was truly eye-opening. One of the charity’s key aims is to help create a more trauma-informed fitness industry.

Did you know that 70% of the world’s population has experienced trauma? [World Health Organisation, 2017] This means it’s highly likely that every fitness professional, including myself, works with clients who have experienced trauma such as domestic violence and childhood abuse.

Here’s why this training is crucial:

💡 It helps us understand how trauma might impact our clients and prevent potential clients from accessing our services.

💡 It provides practical suggestions on becoming more trauma-aware and informed in our profession.

💡 It clarifies our scope of practice, safeguarding, and referral options when working with survivors of trauma.

Creating safe, inclusive, and trauma-informed exercise spaces benefits everyone and I am proud that at BBLB everyone is welcome  💪✨
