We’re thrilled to announce that Big Bums and Little Bums will be proudly supporting Melton Community First Responders as our Charity of the Year!
These incredible volunteers have been serving our community since 2004, responding to around 100 emergency calls every month. Trained by East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) and dispatched just like an ambulance crew, they’re often able to reach people in need faster than an ambulance can.
Whether it’s a cardiac arrest, stroke, breathing difficulty, trauma, or severe allergic reaction, Melton’s Community First Responders can provide urgent assessment and treatment until the ambulance arrives, and in those critical minutes, their work can be the difference between life and death.
Why they need our help:
Melton CFRs rely entirely on donations to keep their lifesaving service going. The funds they raise cover vital costs such as:
New defibrillators – their current ones are coming to the end of their service life.
Uniforms and essential kit – it costs over £1,800 to fully equip one responder for the road.
Level 3 responder equipment – including Entonox (pain relief) and a Raizer Chair, which can cost up to £4,400 per responder.
Recruitment and training – as Melton grows, so does the need for more responders.
Every single penny raised goes towards keeping these volunteers on the road and saving lives in our community.
Our year of fundraising
Over the next 12 months, the BBLB family will be pulling together to raise as much as we can for Melton CFR. We’ve got a packed year of events lined up, from themed classes and fitness challenges to community socials and special surprises!
💃 Expect wiggling, giggling, maybe some cake… and definitely plenty of opportunities to get involved.

We’re so proud to be supporting Melton Community First Responders this year, and we know our BBLB community will give them the love and support they deserve.
